Housing Choice Voucher Program

Program Summary:

  • The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program is the federal government’s major program for assisting very low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford decent, save, and sanitary housing in the private market.
  • Low-income elderly, family, and disabled households generally pay private landlords no more than 40% of their income for rent and utilities.

Subsidized Housing

Program Summary:

  • BHA owns and manages the properties including Public Housing
  • Serving families, seniors, and those with disabilities
  • Units are offered based on availability
  • Households pay 30% of their income for rent

Affordable Housing

BWCHA is accepting applications for several properties. Click HERE to find which properties you are eligible for and to apply.


Program Summary:

  • Low to moderate income elderly, family, and disabled households pay a flat rent that is less than market rates. Eligible households may use a Housing Choice Voucher to help pay rent at affordable housing.
  • Affordable housing requires a minimum gross monthly income of 2 times the rent.
  • Participants pay up to 40% of their income for rent and utilities in the first year.

Program Summary:

  • In addition to its Rental Assistance and Subsidized Housing Programs, BWCHA is a partner in several affordable housing properties financed by Bonds and/or Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC).
  • Households in this program earn 30% \\ 50% \\ 80% or 100% of area median income or less to qualify. Income limits and other eligibility requirements may vary by property.
  • This type of housing does not use the Subsidized Housing Application or Waiting Lists.
  • Indigo Real Estate Services, Inc. provides professional property management services for these properties.
