How do I start the application process?
The Bellingham Housing Authority uses an online application system for all waiting lists, except those specifically serving agricultural workers. To begin the application process, begin the process at the bottom of this page. If you have applied with the Bellingham Housing Authority in the past, please contact our office to get your personalized registration code by emailing [email protected] or calling 360.676.6887.
What waitlists can I apply for?
It is important to carefully review information located here to learn which waiting lists are currently open to new applicants. Please note that some lists are only open to targeted households and any other applications will be rejected.
How long will it take to get a home?
The availabilities within the Subsidized Housing and Affordable Housing programs is unpredictable and the housing authority is not able to provide estimated wait times.
How many bedrooms am I eligible for?
In general, the appropriate unit size is determined by assigning one bedroom for each two persons in a household…with the following exceptions.
- The head of household will have their own room unless shared with a spouse or cohead.
- Other family members of opposite sex who are over the age of six (6) will be allocated separate bedrooms.
What program is right for me?
The Housing Authority cannot advise on which program is right for your family, but if you have questions after reviewing information on waiting lists currently open to new applicants, please do not hesitate to contact our office.
Where are homes located?
The Bellingham & Whatcom County Housing Authorities manage properties throughout the City of Bellingham and the greater Whatcom County area.
